Water network repair and maintenance is a three-part discipline. Clamp repairs for small leaks and cracks, where a mechanical clamp seals the damaged section without removing the pipe. Pipe replacement via open-cut or no-dig methods for sections beyond repair. Slip lining (inserting a new liner inside the existing pipe) and pipe bursting (replacing the pipe from inside) as no-dig alternatives that avoid full excavation where ground conditions or surface value makes open-cut unrealistic. Line stopping and under-pressure drilling to add new connections or isolate sections without shutting down supply. Valve and hydrant repair or replacement where the fault sits at a network asset rather than a pipe run. Localised patch repairs and encapsulation collars where the priority is speed and minimal network disruption.
Inspection and monitoring capability supports the preventive side of the contract. Acoustic leak detection, pressure monitoring, CCTV surveys on larger mains where access allows, and integration with the authority’s own smart sensor and telemetry data. The goal of preventive maintenance is simple: catch faults before they become bursts, manage the network’s water loss figures, and extend the operational life of the assets the authority paid to install.
